Shun Sugata

Shun Sugata, born Masamichi Shibuya on February 17, 1955, in Yamanashi, Japan, is a character actor whose deep, gravelly voice and commanding presence make him an instantly recognizable figure in Japanese cinema, often cast in villainous roles. Sugata's menacing screen persona is epitomized by his portrayal of the ruthless mob enforcer Takayama in Takashi Miike's "Ichi the Killer" and the corrupt police commissioner in "Tokyo Gore Police." His menacing screen presence extends beyond Japan's borders, featuring in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill," Edward Zwick's "The Last Samurai," and as the main antagonist in "Ninja 2" opposite Scott Adkins.
