Simon Wincer

Simon Wincer, born in 1943 in Sydney, is an Australian director and producer whose career spans television and film. After attending Cranbrook School from 1950 to 1961, he began his career as a stagehand at Channel 7. By the 1980s, Wincer had amassed over 200 hours of television directing credits. His work includes the 1986 made-for-TV film "The Last Frontier," for which he won a Christopher Award. His breakthrough in feature films came with "Free Willy" in 1993, cementing his place in the industry.
