Sonny Chiba

Sonny Chiba, born Shin'ichi Chiba in 1939, rose to prominence as a martial arts prodigy and actor, earning a black belt in Kyokushin Karate in 1965. His early career included roles in Japanese superhero shows, but it was 1974's "The Street Fighter" that launched him to international stardom. Chiba's physical prowess and screen charisma led to a diverse range of roles, from the iconic "Kill Bill: Volume 1" to "Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift," cementing his legacy as a versatile action star. His martial arts expertise, honed since university, became as much a part of his identity as his filmography, which spanned over five decades until his death in 2021.
