Stefania Sandrelli

Born in Viareggio, Tuscany, in 1946, Stefania Sandrelli rose to prominence at 14 with her role as Angela in "Divorce Italian Style," opposite Marcello Mastroianni. Her career is inextricably linked to the "commedia all'italiana" genre, which she has embodied since the 1960s. Daughter of Florida and Otello, who owned a pension in her coastal hometown, Sandrelli's early life was marked by her father's death when she was eight. She trained in ballet and accordion, while her older brother, the musician Sergio, pursued a successful career until his death in 2013.
