Takehiro Hira, born in 1974 to actors Mikijirō Hira and Yoshiko Sakuma, is a Japanese theatre, film, and television mainstay. Raised in Tokyo until 15, Hira attended high school in the United States at Moses Brown School and later Brown University. His theatrical career began in 2002 with Yukio Mishima's "Rokumeikan," and he notably starred opposite his father in "Othello." Major recognition came for his portrayal of the last shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, in the NHK drama "Atsuhime." Hira has starred in several films by Takashi Miike, including "Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai" and "Ace Attorney," and played Natsuka Masaie in "Nobou's Castle." His international roles include the Player Queen in the UK stage production of "Hamlet" and the lead in the British TV series "Giri/Haji," alongside roles in "Lost Girls & Love Hotels," "Snake
