Tika Sumpter, born in 1980, is an American actress and producer whose career spans television and film, from hosting "Best Friend's Date" to starring in the soap opera "One Life to Live." Her breakout film roles include "Stomp the Yard: Homecoming" and supporting parts in "What's Your Number?" and "Sparkle." Sumpter's most significant work came as Candace Young in "The Haves and the Have Nots" and starring alongside Kevin Hart in "Ride Along" and its sequel. She garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of Michelle Obama in "Southside with You" and furthered her television presence with "Mixed-ish." Off-screen, she produced and starred in "Southside with You" and lent her voice to Sonic the Hedgehog in both film and TV iterations.
