Tsutomu Yamazaki, born in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on December 2, 1936, is a Japanese actor whose performances have earned him seven Japanese Academy Award nominations. Yamazaki's screen presence is defined by his nuanced portrayals in films like Juzo Itami's comedies "The Funeral" and "A Taxing Woman," for which he won the Best Actor award. He also secured the Best Supporting Actor accolade for his roles in "Go" and "Departures," alongside the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor for "The Funeral" and "Farewell to the Ark.
