Yasuaki Kurata

Yasuaki Kurata, born in 1946, is a Japanese martial artist and actor renowned for his combat prowess in action cinema. With dan ranks in karate, judo, and aikido, Kurata made his mark in the kung-fu genre, notably clashing with Jet Li in "Fist of Legend" and menacing Maggie Cheung in "So Close." A graduate of Nihon University and Toei Theater School, he debuted in Hong Kong with Shaw Brothers' "Angry Guest" in 1971. Beyond acting, Kurata runs a stunt agency and teaches at the University of Creation, Art, Music & Social Work, advocating for martial arts through his role as chief advisor to the All Japan Nunchaku League.
