Described as Japan’s Tom Savini, Nishimura pioneered a new visual aesthetic in the genre, the 'gore effect', which transformed the landscape of Japanese horror cinema. As a director and screenwriter, his contributions to the medium were incendiary, his technical prowess and innovative approach to graphic effects leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
