Zhang Jingchu

Zhang Jingchu, born in 1980, is a Chinese actress celebrated for her versatility and international recognition. A graduate of Beijing’s Central Academy of Drama, she also studied English at the Beijing New Oriental Institute. Her career took flight with Gu Changwei’s Peacock (2005), which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Since then, she has starred in critically acclaimed films such as Tsui Hark’s Seven Swords, Derek Yee’s Protégé, Florian Gallenberger’s John Rabe, and Ann Hui’s Night and Fog. In 2005, Time magazine named her one of “Asia’s Heroes,” affirming her reputation as a leading talent in global cinema.
