Elaan is the Dohlman of Elas, a member of the Elasian royal family, in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Elaan of Troyius." Proud, willful, and unaccustomed to defiance, she was arranged to marry the ruler of Troyius to secure peace between their two worlds.
The USS Enterprise was assigned to transport her to the wedding, where Captain Kirk reluctantly served as her etiquette tutor. Elaan possessed the Elasian trait whereby her tears biochemically infatuated any man who touched them, briefly ensnaring Kirk before duty and circumstance prevailed.
