Eris was a Vorta operative of the Dominion and the first member of the Vorta species encountered by the United Federation of Planets. Uniquely among the Vorta shown onscreen, she appeared to possess telekinetic abilities.
Posing as a Kurillian refugee fleeing Dominion conquest, Eris infiltrated a Starfleet party led by Commander Benjamin Sisko in the Gamma Quadrant, using a counterfeit suppression collar and a staged capture by the Jem'Hadar to win their trust. When her true intelligence-gathering mission was exposed aboard Deep Space 9, she escaped by transporter.
