Lieutenant Commander Joann Owosekun, nicknamed "Owo," was a female Human Starfleet officer who served as an operations officer aboard the USS Discovery across the mid-23rd and late 32nd centuries. Raised in a technology-free Luddite collective near the Ogbunike Caves in Nigeria, she developed an exceptional ability to hold her breath.
She was decorated with the Starfleet Medal of Honor for her part in ending the Federation-Klingon War and volunteered to follow the Discovery forward in time to the 32nd century. A close friend of Keyla Detmer and Sylvia Tilly, she is portrayed by Oyin Oladejo and appears in Star Trek: Discovery.
