Tobin Dax is a joined Trill and the second host of the Dax symbiont in the Star Trek universe, seen in Deep Space Nine when his memories were embodied by Miles O'Brien during Jadzia Dax's zhian'tara. He was portrayed by Colm Meaney.
A quiet and unassuming engineer, Tobin was noted for his intimate knowledge of phase coil inverters and for pursuits such as developing an alternative proof to Fermat's last theorem. He had several children, including a troublesome son named Raifi.
