Vash was a Human archaeologist and former member of the Federation Archaeology Council in the 24th century, widely regarded as a profiteer who sold priceless artifacts rather than pursuing knowledge for its own sake. Her unscrupulous methods twice cost her Council membership and left her unwelcome on several worlds. In 2366 she located the legendary Tox Uthat on Risa.
It was on Risa that Vash met Captain Jean-Luc Picard and began a romance with him, and she later spent two years traveling the galaxy with the entity Q. Arriving at Deep Space 9 with Gamma Quadrant artifacts, she partnered with Quark to auction them. Played by Jennifer Hetrick, Vash appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
