Finis Valorum was a human male politician from the influential House Valorum of Coruscant who served as the penultimate Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. A descendant of the Republic's first Supreme Chancellor, he had planned for his entire life to hold the office, entering the civil service before being elected to the chancellery by the Galactic Senate.
His administration was defined by the corruption and bureaucracy of the Senate, which he proved unable to bring under control. His attempts to resolve crises such as the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo were repeatedly frustrated, and a Vote of No Confidence called by Queen Padme Amidala led to his replacement by Senator Sheev Palpatine of Naboo, who was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious and had engineered Valorum's downfall.
More than a decade after leaving office, during the Clone Wars, Valorum aided the Jedi Order's investigation into the death of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, whom he had earlier sent on a covert mission to the Pyke Syndicate.
