“...or never give a saga an even break!”
Blazing Saddles (1974) skewers the Wild West genre with incisive satire and anarchic humor. Set in a frontier town where the populace is inexplicably named Johnson, the film sees a ruthless industrialist, Hedley Lamarr, dispatching thugs to make life intolerable. When the sheriff falls victim to their machinations, the Governor, misled by Hedley, appoints a black sheriff to the post, setting off a cascade of absurdity and racial commentary that dismantles stereotypes with gleeful abandon.
