Lolita (1997) replays Vladimir Nabokov's literary conundrum with a middle-aged British novelist, Humbert Humbert, arriving in America and lodging at Charlotte Haze's boarding house. Director Adrian Lyne navigates the moral quagmire with a delicate balance of eroticism and tragedy, rendering Humbert's pursuit of Lolita a toxic dance of desire and destruction.
