Brynden Rivers, better known as the Three-Eyed Raven and called Bloodraven in the lore, is a character in HBO's Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. A bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen who was legitimized on the king's deathbed, he later became the last greenseer, a powerful seer living among the Children of the Forest in a cave far beyond the Wall, his body fused to the roots of a weirwood tree.
As the Three-Eyed Raven he reaches into the dreams of Bran Stark, drawing him north and mentoring him in the magic of the Sight, including visions that reveal the origin of the White Walkers. In House of the Dragon he appears in a weirwood vision experienced by his ancestor Daemon Targaryen at Harrenhal. The role was portrayed by Max von Sydow. This overview summarizes his depiction on screen; his place in events is detailed in the Timeline.
