Prince Joffrey Velaryon is a supporting character in the HBO series House of the Dragon. The youngest son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon, he is bonded to the dragon Tyraxes and, though presented as trueborn, is in fact one of Rhaenyra's sons fathered by Ser Harwin Strong. He was named in honor of Laenor's late companion, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth.
A prince of the Blacks during the Dance of the Dragons, Joffrey moves up the line of succession as his elder brothers die, becoming heir to Driftmark after Lucerys and his mother's heir after Jacaerys falls at the Battle of the Gullet.
