Ser Loras Tyrell, known as the Knight of the Flowers, is a celebrated tourney knight and the heir to Highgarden in the HBO series Game of Thrones. The son of Lord Mace Tyrell and brother of Margaery Tyrell, he is renowned across Westeros for his skill in the lists and is the lover of Renly Baratheon, whom he encourages to claim the Iron Throne.
After Renly's death, Loras fights for House Lannister at the Battle of the Blackwater and remains in King's Landing to support his sister's marriages. When the Faith Militant rises to power he is imprisoned and pressured into renouncing his titles to become “Brother Loras,” and dies alongside his father and sister in the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor, orchestrated by Cersei Lannister.
