Shae is a recurring character in the HBO series Game of Thrones, appearing from Season 1 through Season 4. A prostitute of Lorathi origin, she became the secret mistress of Tyrion Lannister after Bronn found her for him among the camp-followers of the Lannister army. Tyrion brought her to King's Landing and installed her in the Tower of the Hand, later arranging for her to serve as handmaiden to the captive Sansa Stark, for whom Shae came to care deeply.
Ambitious and fiercely independent, Shae refused Varys's offer of diamonds and safe passage to Pentos, choosing to remain at Tyrion's side despite the danger their relationship posed to him. Her arc ends in tragedy: she gives testimony against Tyrion at his trial for the murder of King Joffrey, and Tyrion later strangles her after finding her in his father Tywin's bed.
