Ser Vaemond Velaryon was a knight of House Velaryon and a commander in the Velaryon navy, appearing in the first season of House of the Dragon. The younger brother of Lord Corlys Velaryon, he was proud of his family's ancient Valyrian lineage and fought in the War for the Stepstones.
Vaemond openly questioned the paternity of Rhaenyra Targaryen's sons and pressed his own claim to inherit Driftmark ahead of Lucerys Velaryon, traveling to King's Landing to argue his case with the support of the Hightowers. When he called Rhaenyra a whore and her children bastards before the king, Prince Daemon Targaryen decapitated him from behind with Dark Sister.
