Vermax is a dragon of House Targaryen during the reign of King Viserys I, hatched from an egg given to Prince Jacaerys Velaryon and bonded to him from a young age. Marked by olive-green scales, orange eyes, and orange frills, he is one of the dragons of the Blacks in the Dance of the Dragons.
In House of the Dragon, Vermax is trained in the Dragonpit and carries Jacaerys to the Eyrie and Winterfell to secure the support of Houses Arryn and Stark for Queen Rhaenyra. He is killed at the Battle of the Gullet, shot down by Triarchy crossbowmen and drowned in the sea, with Jacaerys slain soon after.
