David Schwimmer, born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, is an American actor and director whose career began with school plays at Beverly Hills High School. Graduating from Northwestern University in 1988, he co-founded the Lookingglass Theatre Company and endured the early 1990s as a struggling actor before catching his big break in television with roles in L.A. Law and The Wonder Years. His career skyrocketed with the global phenomenon Friends, where he played Ross Geller, and he transitioned to film with leading roles in The Pallbearer and Kissing a Fool. Since then, Schwimmer has balanced film appearances, including Madagascar, with stage work in London and New York, and ventured into directing with Run Fatboy Run.
