Harry Carey, Jr.

Harry Carey Jr., born Henry George Carey on May 16, 1921, and passing on December 27, 2012, was an American actor who carved a distinguished career in more than ninety films and numerous television series. Son of actors Harry Carey Sr. and Olive Carey, he pivoted from a brief singing career to acting, earning a place in John Ford's Stock Company. His collaboration with Ford, who became a close friend, resulted in key roles in films like "3 Godfathers," "The Searchers," and "Cheyenne Autumn." He also worked with Howard Hawks on "Red River" and "Rio Bravo," alongside frequent co-stars John Wayne and Ben Johnson. Later in his career, Carey took on diverse roles in films such as "Gremlins," "Mask," and "Tombstone," cementing his status as a versatile character actor.
