Hong Chau

Hong Chau, born to Vietnamese refugees in a Thai camp and resettled in New Orleans by a local church, grew to become an actress noted for her nuanced portrayals in both film and television. After majoring in film studies at Boston University, Chau's career took shape with roles in "Treme" and "Inherent Vice," leading to more prominent parts in "Watchmen," "Homecoming," "Driveways," and "American Woman." Her performance as Ngoc Lan Tran in "Downsizing" and as Liz in "The Whale" earned her critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination.
