Mako

Born in Kobe, Japan, Mako arrived in the United States as a child and later joined his parents there in 1949. After military service in the 1950s and naturalization in 1956, he shifted from studying architecture to uncovering his theatrical talents at the Pasadena Community Playhouse. Mako's career flourished alongside his marriage to actress Shizuko Hoshi, with whom he raised two daughters who followed in his acting footsteps and became actresses themselves.
