Zhang Fengyi

Zhang Fengyi, born in 1956 in Changsha, Hunan, is a celebrated Chinese actor whose career spans from local opera troupes to international acclaim. Moving to Dongchuan, Yunnan as an infant, Zhang left high school to join a performing troupe before being admitted to the Beijing Film Academy in 1978. His breakthrough came with "Rickshaw Boy" in 1981, followed by notable roles in "Farewell My Concubine," "The Emperor and the Assassin," and "Red Cliff," where he embodied historical figures with nuanced intensity, cementing his status as one of China's premier actors.
