Trust & safety framework conceptual design

The years of conceptual work behind the Tier 1 Gap Register entry G-001 (trust & safety framework). What kinds of harm OLN must defend against, what tools it has to do so, where neutrality forces deference to franchise communities, and where the platform must intervene regardless.

Entry 017

Captured retroactively. This represents multi-year conceptual work that pre-dates the platform. The credit value is a post-hoc estimate per the methodology in Entry 017 and is subject to revision under G-038's calibration mechanism. Brandon's allocation is held in escrow pending his first login.

What this represents

G-001 names the trust & safety framework as an existential Tier 1 open question. That entry exists because the years of work captured here produced enough clarity to name the question correctly:

  • Harm taxonomy. What kinds of harm can occur on a civic lore platform — content harms, identity harms, economic harms, governance harms, off-platform spillover harms — and which of those OLN even has standing to address.
  • Neutrality vs. intervention. Where the OLN-as-neutral posture forces the platform to defer to franchise community governance, and where the platform intervenes regardless because the harm is structural to the substrate.
  • Stewardship Body authority. Which T&S decisions are deferred to the future Stewardship Body and which the founding phase must hold, with the same explicit criteria the rest of the governance model uses.

Why this is on the roadmap

The framework itself is open in G-001. What's closed — and what this entry holds the credit for — is the conceptual scaffolding that lets the open question be named precisely instead of being a generic "we should do trust & safety eventually."
