Lieutenant Hemmer is an Aenar Starfleet officer in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, serving as chief engineer of the USS Enterprise in 2259. Blind like all Aenar but gifted with telepathy, he was a self-described engineering "genius" and a committed pacifist who held that pacifism meant the active protection of all living things rather than passivity.
A mentor figure to Cadet Nyota Uhura and a friend to Spock, Hemmer sacrificed himself to protect an away team from Gorn hatchlings, an act that resonated across the crew for seasons afterward.
