Vice Admiral Katrina "Kat" Cornwell is a Human Starfleet flag officer in Star Trek: Discovery. A former therapist experienced in treating trauma, she balanced command responsibility with personal ties, most notably her relationship with Captain Gabriel Lorca.
During the Federation-Klingon War she was captured and tortured by Klingon forces, later assumed temporary command of Discovery, and helped broker the war's end by empowering L'Rell.
