The Mom AI was an embedded artificial-intelligence program concealed within the twin synthetic androids Dahj Asha and Soji Asha, created by the cyberneticist Bruce Maddox. Presenting itself to each android as a maternal human figure during video calls, it appeared onscreen in Star Trek: Picard, portrayed by Sumalee Montano.
The program served as a covert safeguard and control mechanism for the sisters. It would activate its host android whenever that android fell into grave danger, and it would put Soji to sleep whenever she came close to learning the truth about her origins, with her calls to it never lasting longer than seventy seconds.
