Nero is a Romulan miner and the primary antagonist of the 2009 film Star Trek, captain of the mining vessel Narada. Consumed by grief after the destruction of Romulus in 2387 killed his wife and unborn child, he sought vengeance against Ambassador Spock and the Federation.
Pulled back in time to 2233, Nero originated the alternate "Kelvin" timeline: he destroyed the USS Kelvin, annihilated the planet Vulcan with red matter, and attempted to obliterate Earth before being stopped by James T.
