Sarina Douglas was a genetically-engineered Human woman who, as a child, underwent an illegal procedure called accelerated critical neural pathway formation that dramatically increased her intelligence but initially left her mute and unable to focus on the world around her.
Brought to Deep Space 9 as one of the group of savants nicknamed the "Jack pack," she was eventually treated by Doctor Julian Bashir, whose neurocortical procedure allowed her to interact with others for the first time. She and Bashir became close before she departed for a research internship. Sarina appears in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and was portrayed by Faith C. Salie.
