Shinzon was a clone of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, engineered by the Romulans to infiltrate the Federation and then abandoned as a child to slave labor in the dilithium mines of Remus. Rising to lead the downtrodden Reman people, he seized power over the Romulan Star Empire in a coup and declared himself Praetor.
Dying from the failure of his accelerated genetic design, Shinzon plotted to annihilate Earth with a thalaron weapon aboard his warbird Scimitar, needing Picard's blood to survive. He was killed by Picard at the Battle of the Bassen Rift in 2379. Portrayed by Tom Hardy, Shinzon is the antagonist of Star Trek: Nemesis, and is distinct from Picard himself.
