Trelane is a powerful, childlike non-corporeal entity introduced in Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Squire of Gothos," later established as a member of the Q Continuum. Fascinated by 18th-century Earth culture, he adopted foppish dress and manners while toying with the crew of the Enterprise.
Though able to reshape matter and reality, his powers were immature and dependent on a hidden device, allowing Captain Kirk to outwit him before his exasperated parents intervened to discipline their unruly child.
