Gideon was a human male Imperial warlord who led a remnant of the Galactic Empire during the early era of the New Republic. Under the Empire he attained the rank of Moff and served as an officer in the Imperial Security Bureau, where he oversaw the development of specialized units including the death troopers. He is best known for his role in the Great Purge of Mandalore, during which he acquired the legendary Darksaber.
Believed executed for war crimes after the Galactic Civil War, Gideon in fact survived and commanded his own Imperial remnant from a base on Mandalore, becoming a prominent member of the Shadow Council. He sought the Force-sensitive child Grogu as a blood donor for his cloning experiments, bringing him into conflict with the Mandalorian Din Djarin.
