Mas Amedda was a Chagrian politician from the planet Champala who served the chancelleries of Finis Valorum and Sheev Palpatine during the final decades of the Galactic Republic. A skilled bureaucrat, he rose to become Vice Chair of the Galactic Senate and Speaker of the Senate, positions from which he helped manage the Republic's vast legislative machinery.
Amedda proved a consummate political survivor. During the Naboo crisis he maneuvered between Valorum and Palpatine, and after Valorum's fall he swore allegiance to the new Supreme Chancellor. He became one of Palpatine's closest advisors, aiding the concentration of executive power that led to the Clone Wars and the founding of the Galactic Empire.
Under the Empire, Amedda served as Grand Vizier within the Imperial Ruling Council, overseeing its bureaucracy. After the Emperor's death at Endor his real influence waned, and following the Battle of Jakku he surrendered to the New Republic and led a powerless provisional government on Coruscant. He is remembered as a weak-willed sycophant of the Emperor.
