Owen Lars was a human male moisture farmer who lived and worked on the desert planet Tatooine. He was the stepson of Shmi Skywalker and, together with his wife Beru, raised Luke Skywalker on the family homestead in the Jundland region.
Protective and cautious, Owen sought to keep Luke shielded from the wider galaxy and from his father's Jedi legacy, resisting efforts to draw the young man into off-world affairs. He and Beru were killed by Imperial stormtroopers searching for the droids that carried the stolen Death Star plans.
