Lily Potter (nee Evans) is the mother of Harry Potter in the Wizarding World franchise, portrayed on screen across the eight Harry Potter feature films (2001-2011). A Muggle-born witch sorted into Gryffindor, she married James Potter and, with him, joined the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War.
Lily and James were murdered by Lord Voldemort in 1981 while protecting their infant son, and her sacrifice became a central element of Harry's story; she appears again through the Resurrection Stone during the Battle of Hogwarts. See the Timeline for a chronological account of her role.
