Finrod, known fully as Finrod Felagund, is a Noldorin Elf of the House of Finarfin, the eldest brother of Galadriel and, after founding the underground realm of Nargothrond with Dwarven help, its king. Renowned as a friend of Men, he earned the epithet Felagund, meaning Hewer of Caves.
He is remembered above all for laying down his life to save Beren during the Quest for the Silmaril, and for being the first of the exiled Noldor permitted to return to life in Valinor. In Amazon's The Rings of Power he appears in flashback as Galadriel's brother, killed by servants of Sauron, an act that sets his sister on her long pursuit.
