Fréaláf Hildeson was the tenth King of Rohan and the first of its second royal line, coming to the throne as nephew of the sonless Helm Hammerhand. Taking refuge at Dunharrow during the Dunlending invasion and the Long Winter, he led the Rohirrim in reclaiming Edoras and slaying the usurper Wulf.
His reign restored Rohan and saw Saruman granted the keys of Orthanc. He is featured in the 2024 animated film The War of the Rohirrim, where his story is adapted so that he is banished by Helm and rescues the survivors at Helm's Deep.
