Gray Tal is a 32nd century transgender male joined Trill from Star Trek: Discovery, joined to the Tal symbiont and partner of the Human Adira. After Gray was killed when an asteroid struck his ship, the Tal symbiont passed to Adira, and Gray continued to appear to Adira as a seemingly independent presence.
With the help of Doctor Hugh Culber and the Soong Method, Gray was eventually reincorporated into a synthetic golem body, and later left Discovery to train as a Guardian on the Trill homeworld.
