Ian Andrew Troi was a Human Starfleet officer of the 24th century, remembered chiefly as the husband of the Betazoid Ambassador Lwaxana Troi and the father of Deanna Troi. He and Lwaxana married in 2328 and raised their family on Betazed, where Ian embraced many of the cultural expectations of his strong-willed wife while passing on aspects of his own Human heritage to their daughter.
Devoted to his family, Ian shared with Deanna a fondness for tales of the American "Ancient West" and would sing her to sleep. His death in 2343 devastated his wife and surviving daughter, and Deanna remembered him fondly for years afterward, later naming her own son after him.
