Lwaxana Troi was a flamboyant Betazoid Federation ambassador and the mother of Deanna Troi. A daughter of the Fifth House of Betazed, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx and heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed, she was one of the Federation's wealthiest and most colorful diplomats.
Larger-than-life, telepathic, and famously flirtatious, Lwaxana frequently embarrassed her daughter while remaining fiercely protective of her. Her personal life mixed flamboyance with tragedy: her marriage to Ian Andrew Troi produced daughters Kestra and Deanna, and the drowning of young Kestra led Lwaxana to repress the memory entirely. She later married the Tavnian Jeyal and, briefly, the DS9 shapeshifter Odo.
Lwaxana appeared across Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, forming a memorable bond with Odo and a recurring, exasperating rapport with Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
