Marie Picard was a Human, the wife of Robert Picard and mother of their son René, living at the Picard family farm near La Barre, France. Through her marriage she was the sister-in-law of Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
Though relations between the brothers were strained, Marie corresponded with Jean-Luc to keep him abreast of family matters, and the two finally met during his 2367 visit home. She was widowed in 2371 when Robert and René died in a fire, and it was Marie who sent Jean-Luc the news. Marie Picard appears in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
