Robert Picard was a Human vintner who tended the family vineyards at Chateau Picard in La Barre, France, and the elder brother of Starfleet captain Jean-Luc Picard. The son of Maurice and Yvette Picard, he embraced traditional, low-technology ways of living and maintained a tumultuous but ultimately loving relationship with his younger brother, notably reconciling with Jean-Luc following the latter's assimilation by the Borg.
The father of Rene Picard and husband of Marie, Robert, like his brother, suffered from Shalaft's Syndrome. He appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation and, in photographic form, in Star Trek Generations.
