Tora Ziyal was a Cardassian-Bajoran hybrid, the illegitimate daughter of Gul Dukat and the Bajoran Tora Naprem, born of a relationship during the Occupation of Bajor. After years of hardship — a shipwreck and forced labor in a Breen mine — she was rescued by her father and came to live aboard Deep Space 9, where she was often shunned for her mixed heritage.
On the station she formed a close, sisterly bond with Kira Nerys, grew close to the tailor-spy Elim Garak, and discovered a gift for painting she hoped might bridge Cardassian and Bajoran peoples. She was killed by Damar during the Dominion War after helping the Resistance. A recurring Deep Space Nine character, her story is detailed in the Timeline.
