R4-P17, nicknamed R4, was a feminine R4-P astromech droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton and assigned to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi before and throughout the Clone Wars. Brave but cautious, she stood 0.96 meters tall, sported a red replacement dome from another astromech, and carried an electro-shock prod she used to defend Kenobi's starfighter.
Serving as Kenobi's hyperspace navigator and starfighter astromech, R4-P17 accompanied him from Kamino and Geonosis during the Separatist Crisis to Tatooine, Teth, Rodia, Mandalore and Sullust during the Clone Wars. She was destroyed by a buzz droid during the Battle of Coruscant and was subsequently replaced by R4-G9.
